A colorful opportunity to influence major international marketing strategies and communications campaigns.

AkzoNobel’s Decorative Paints (DP) business area adds color to people’s lives with a full range of interior and exterior decoration and protection products for the professional and consumer markets.

As authorities on color we aim to provide all our customers – from professional decorators to DIY enthusiasts – with a great color experience and a fantastic finish. Our range includes wallpaints, lacquers and varnishes, as well as products for surface preparation (pre-deco products).

Key to our success is a sophisticated and powerful marketing capability that develops international campaigns and initiatives. Within this context, your mission in this role is to support this process for North West Europe (NWE) by coordinating and leading world-class consultancy as you challenge the business in terms of market information and strategy.

Central to this is the proactive sharing of findings with our Marketing and Sales Units (MSUs) across the NWE cluster and with peers in the global Market Intelligence and Planning Support (MIPS) network. You also drive the regional innovation agenda for both Consumer and Professional business (16 MLN incremental value).

Is this a challenge that matches your skills and ambitions as someone with a strong understanding of, and proven experience in, core marketing capabilities, particularly business planning and strategy in a B2B or FMCG environment? Can you demonstrate broad-based business acumen and commercial instincts, along with an understanding of organizational dynamics? Do you have the ability and credibility to strongly influence, and partner effectively with, key stakeholders through formal and informal channels? Above all, can you make a real difference within our dynamic, multinational and multicultural business environment?

If you offer all this and more we invite you to apply for the role of

Senior Marketing & Insights Manager NWE

The role and its responsibilities

Working from the AkzoNobel Center in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, you are accountable for business intelligence across NWE, and responsible for best-in-class global insight processes in the NWE region.

As part of the regional marketing leadership team you lead cross-country/functional projects to scope and implement identified (regional) game changing opportunities. You are also part of a global insights team as you network with the larger insight community across regions, identifying and sharing best practices.

Thus you format strategy and guidelines, identifying customer risks and opportunities, and analyzing the competitive perspective for future growth. You also initiate and participate in business discussions to identify opportunities, develop relevant insights or identify knowledge gaps (both qualitatively and quantitatively).

Further, you envision and lead the synthesis of data across multiple sources to identify more macro-level themes and insights, translating and integrating this to business strategy. You also support and guide selected MSUs in a rigorous BPC (Business Planning Cycle) process and strategy development, and you drive the innovation and product life cycle management for the region.

All of this demands that you move multiple projects forward simultaneously, including the coordination of brand-health studies in NWE. In doing so you lead or participate in cross-functional project teams, communicating with Brand Directors, Marketing Director, Digital Director, and Sales Directors, as well as clusters and MSUs. You also interact with senior representatives of market research and retail panel agencies.
At all times you exhibit a strong focus on people development within the NWE Insights team, and you consistently improve capabilities and engagement in the indirect team.
